Weekly Plans

Spelling: The next spelling test will be February 14th. Please remember that spelling words and dictation sentences will be graded this nine weeks.

Words: afraid, day, gray, mail, may, play, rain, tail, train, way, would, some

Please use correct letter formation on spelling homework.

 

Reading: We will learn about /ai/ as in train and /ay/ as in day.  We will also learn about possessives such as: This is Jan’s book. This week’s reading skill is to draw conclusions from the story. Our grammar skill is to review adjectives.

High-Frequency words: much, before, line, right, too, mean, old, any, same, tell

 

Math: We will learn about 2-digit addition along with problem-solving.   Please review with your child how to count to 120 by 1’s, 5’s and 10’s. There are also many websites to help your child review addition and subtraction. Review 10 more and 10 less ( such as, “What is 10 more than 24?”) Here are a few: mathfactcafe.com, coolmath4kids.com or aplusmath.com

 

Social Science: We are discussing Valentine’s Day.
