Plans for the week of November 10-14

Weekly Plans

Spelling: The next spelling test will be Friday, November 14th.  Remember the words are graded but NOT the dictation sentences. Letters that are written backwards makes the word incorrect and the word is counted wrong.

Words are: huge, June, rule, tube, use, cube, cute, flute, rude, mule, but, not

Reading: Our story is Life in the Forest. Students will learn about long /u/ as in huge, long /e/ as in these  and the inflected endings –ed as in spilled (-ed makes the /d/ sound), asked (-ed makes the /t/ sound) and rested (-ed makes the /ed/ sound).  In our story we will learn about author’s purpose for writing stories. Our grammar skill is to learn about adding –s to nouns to make them mean more than one.

High-Frequency words: find, down, did, come, may, long, day, get, made, part

Math: We will continue to discuss addends and fact families. Practice adding and subtracting 1 and double (ex: 4+4= 8, 6+6=12) facts. We will also continue to review addition and subtraction.

Social Science:  We will learn about air. We will learn how air moves items even when we don’t see it. We will be making parachutes and doing many experiments with air. If you have any resources you would like to send please do!
